POLITICAL SIGNS: It is an election year and political signs are beginning to appear in the Clusters. Please be advised that our CC&Rs prohibit “billboards or advertising signs” on the lots, but do not prohibit political signs or limit their duration. Signs may not be painted on a structure, or attached to a structure, without permission of the Architectural Control Committee. In addition, state law expressly permits homeowners subject to an HOA to maintain political signs, with few restrictions, but does allow HOAs to limit the total area of visible political signs to 9 square feet (2-3 normal size yard signs). While the FCHOA has not adopted that last requirement, it is one that hopefully our residents will acknowledge and abide by. If you find your neighbor’s political signs objectionable, please talk to them respectfully. Maybe the areas of political disagreement are less than you expect.
